Let me see your face
The face is the part of oneself which one reveals to the world at large, whether we like it or not. The face is the ego laid bare. The face is brutal when it comes to truth. It shows our truth whether we want it or not, whether we are aware of it or not. The face is a paradox: it is the only part that we reveal all the time, yet we cannot see what we reveal. Nobody has ever had direct sight of his or her face, it can only be seen with the help of a mirror or a photograph. Faces are not for their owners, but for others. To understand a face requires deliberation, patience, respect and with them, love. To study a face without loving it is to debase it, to destroy it, to murder it and to subject it to vivisection.
